Adolf Šostar, PhD, from 2001 retired emeritus full professor of the Univesity of Maribor. He works as R&D consultant for Slovenian tool and die making companies and TCS. His education, research and professional career was in the areas of production engineering, dimensional measuring and quality assurance management. He gained his practical experience in experimental, development and research departments in Europe and USA (Krupp and C. Zeiss, Goetawerken, Andritzer Maschinenfabrik, Steyr Fahrzeugbau and TAM). There he was head of the experimental department for introducing new technologies and director of the toolmaking factory. He started his educational career on the College of mechanical engineering as head of the college workshop and manager of the additional activities of the college. From 1963 to his retirement he leaded the Laboratory for dimensional measurement on the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Maribor. Mr. Šostars succesive functions on the College and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering were the following: head of the Mechanical engineering department 1975 – 1979, 1979 – 1983 dean of the Mechanical engineering department, 1982 – 1985 vice rector for graduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Maribor, 1984 – 1995 collaborator of C. Zeiss – KOMEG, 1991 – 2001 Head of the Institute for production engineering on the Faculty of mechanical engineering, 1991 – 1996 visiting professor on the TU Graz, 1995 – 2001 dean of the Faculty of mechanical engineering of the University of Maribor.
His Bibliography includes over 300 works and in addition 103 research reports. He was mentor of 11 doctor students and 8 masters students in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Maribor and TU Graz.
He is member of numerous international engineering associations and editorial boards and member of Slovenian academy of engineering.
